About Tonal

At Tonal, we’re revolutionizing strength training with the world’s smartest fitness system and the software that powers it. Our mission is to help people live healthier lives through personalized, data-driven workouts accessible from the comfort of their homes. We believe in pushing boundaries, reimagining possibilities, and continually enhancing our products—because strength changes everything.

Role Overview

The Retail Partnership Lead plays a critical role in expanding Tonal’s retail presence through partnerships with external store operators. In this multi-unit field leadership role, you will lead a portfolio of partner-operated locations and serve as the primary Tonal point of contact for store managers within your territory.

You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing productivity, and achieving profitable sales growth by executing business strategies and adapting them to local needs. Through coaching and development, you’ll empower store leaders and teams to deliver best-in-class customer and employee experiences that reflect Tonal’s brand values and performance standards.

Your impact will be measured by store-level execution, KPIs, and the strength of your leadership in the field. You will build a high-performing, inclusive culture across your assigned region, fostering alignment between partner operations and Tonal’s strategic goals. This role requires a proactive, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Coaching

  • Act as the key field leader and Tonal brand ambassador across a group of partner-operated retail stores.
  • Serve as a resource, mentor, and coach to store managers within the assigned territory.
  • Lead onboarding, ongoing training, and operational reviews to ensure alignment with Tonal brand and retail standards.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, coaching, and performance development tailored to partnership dynamics.
  • Share accountability for team performance, budget adherence, and business outcomes across the territory.

Operational Execution

  • Ensure all partner locations consistently deliver on operational KPIs, sales goals, and brand experience.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to Tonal policies, procedures, and customer engagement standards.
  • Conduct regular store visits (minimum 3 days/week) to assess performance, identify growth opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead the planning and field execution of new product launches and store retrofits in collaboration with HQ and partner teams.
  • Support the execution of seasonal strategies, national campaigns, and new program rollouts across the partner network.
  • Serve as the gatekeeper of consistency in the in-store experience — ensuring Tonal shows up as a premium, cohesive brand. This includes verifying product functionality, accessory availability, and adherence to merchandising standards across all partner locations.

Sales & Business Development

  • Use financial and operational data to identify trends, assess performance, and implement localized strategies to drive profitable growth.
  • Surface local market and community event opportunities by maintaining strong awareness of regional happenings. Share insights with HQ and cross-functional teams to support localized promotions and brand visibility initiatives.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape and local market trends; adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with partner leaders to ensure alignment on financial goals and delivery expectations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Regional Managers, HQ teams, and retail partners to align on goals, share insights, and optimize the in-store experience.
  • Support talent planning and staffing needs in collaboration with partner teams.
  • Serve as a feedback loop between the field and Tonal HQ to identify needs, share best practices, and recommend innovations in the partnership model.
