Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED, with an Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field being preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in providing online and phone technical support, customer service, or call center functions is required. Experience using cell phones, laptops, and tablets for work activities, along with installing and troubleshooting computer hardware and software including Microsoft Windows servers and networks, applications, and peripheral devices like printers, scanners, scales, and infusion pumps, is essential. The role also requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis, including being on-call. Experience supporting web-based and client-server database applications, contributing to and accessing information from a Knowledge Management system, and holding technical certifications are preferred. Medical device or healthcare industry experience is also a plus. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are considered advantageous.
The Technical Support Specialist will provide level 1 support to customers experiencing software and hardware product issues via phone, chat, and email. This involves instructing customers on the use of hardware and software applications, analyzing reported issues, following troubleshooting guidelines to establish root causes, and identifying resolutions. The specialist will record and document all customer interactions, escalate issues as necessary, and update work orders, complete checklists, and access portals. They will also diagnose problems, adhere to Baxter's Good Documentation Practices, maintain compliance with data privacy laws like HIPAA and GDPR, and read electrical and pneumatic diagrams. Sharing knowledge in areas such as microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, and sensor or feedback systems is also part of the role. The position requires reacting quickly and remaining calm under pressure while supporting Baxter's mission to save and sustain lives by providing troubleshooting support to devices.
