Candidates must possess a professional degree and 10 years of relevant business development experience in the Aerospace & Defense sector, including experience in both domestic and international markets. A strong knowledge of business and sales growth techniques is required, along with a proven track record of success in business development roles within the aviation industry, specifically selling to commercial customers, OEMs, and defense contractors. Deep understanding of the aerospace ecosystem, including OEMs, suppliers, and regulatory frameworks, is essential, as is 5 years of direct experience working with DoD contracts. Exceptional project management, communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are necessary, along with proven leadership experience and flexibility to travel.
The VP of Business Development will lead the Business Development team in identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities, with an emphasis on domestic and international DoD, OEM, and commercial markets. They will develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth and market penetration, informed by industry research and analysis. This role involves serving as the primary point of contact for DoD and OEM partners, building strategic relationships, and establishing connections with key commercial and DoD stakeholders. Responsibilities include leading initiatives to secure defense contracts, providing guidance on defense contracting regulatory and compliance matters, and promoting the company’s products and services. The VP will also conduct market analysis, participate in strategic business meetings, collaborate cross-functionally on partnership opportunities, lead major proposal development efforts, and continuously monitor and enhance team performance.

Their main product, Skyryse One, uses a system called SkyOS, which simplifies aircraft control with smart actuators and a touchscreen interface. This design reduces potential failure points and automates safety maneuvers, making flying more intuitive for pilots. The company aims to lower the number of small aircraft accidents and make aviation more accessible.
