  • Ability to make, alter, and repair gauges, jigs, fixtures, special machines, and other devices
  • Ability to setup and operate all types of tool room equipment and improvise where equipment is limited
  • Ability to plan and lay out work, determine accurate and efficient methods
  • Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings and work to extremely close tolerances using precision tool room equipment
  • Knowledge of measuring characteristics of steels and other common metals and their heat treating processes
  • Considerable specialized knowledge and ingenuity in diagnosing and correcting mold deficiencies
  • Ability to accomplish work quickly and accurately when time is critical
  • May direct or train others in performing mold deficiency work
  • Ability to keep spare parts inventory for molds
  • Ability to do tool work as instructed in areas other than the tool room and help/assist where needed

  • Plans and lays out work, determining accurate and efficient methods
  • Reads and interprets complicated drawings and works to extremely close tolerances using precision tool room equipment
  • Diagnoses and corrects mold deficiencies using specialized knowledge and ingenuity, accomplishing work quickly and accurately when time is critical
  • Directs or trains others in performing mold deficiency work
  • Keeps spare parts inventory for molds
  • Performs tool work as instructed in other areas than the tool room
  • Helps and assists where needed
  • Uses tools and equipment including machine shop tools, Heliarc & Electric Arc welding equipment, electrical testing equipment, micrometer, veneer calipers, dial and depth indicator micrometers, hand tools, etc
