Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems of heavy equipment and vehicles
Advanced engine chassis repair and maintenance skills
Advanced knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems
Advanced knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems for diagnosing and repairing complex systems
Advanced knowledge of welding tools to fix heavy equipment safely and efficiently
Responsibilities
Provide direction to on-site technicians and technician supervisors, and leadership to maintenance supervisors or managers, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely repair/maintenance work; reallocate resources among sites as needed
Oversee coordination, planning, and scheduling of all repair work to increase productivity while managing overtime
Monitor shops' operational performance and efficiency; redirect activities, report to management, and implement procedures for improvements
Oversee daily shop huddles, fleet walk-arounds; coach and counsel lead technicians and supervisors; make hiring/termination decisions with HR and management; oversee training and performance evaluations
Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program for all shops; identify trends in road calls and breakdowns; oversee facility maintenance; control costs related to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing
Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and federal/state regulations; follow up and identify training opportunities
Accountable for scheduled Quality Control Inspections; track issues and resolutions for compliance
Manage team-related administrative matters, including payroll and employee records
