Requirements

The Associate CMO requires at least 10 years of experience directly managing physicians and nurse practitioners in a dynamic, high-accountability environment, with experience in hiring, firing, evaluating, and promoting other physicians and non-physicians. Most likely, this leader comes from a business/corporate role, although consideration will be given to leadership roles in large private practices or similar organizations.

Responsibilities

The Associate CMO will lead the Virta Medical Group (VMG), guiding a high-performing team of physicians and nurse practitioners while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and collaborative support. They will develop and mentor clinical managers, oversee the recruitment, training, and onboarding of new clinicians, implement and manage quality assurance programs, collaborate with clinical safety leaders to improve care quality at scale, manage clinician evaluations, and work cross-functionally with coaching, product, and operations teams. Additionally, the role involves representing Virta externally and maintaining a small patient panel, providing hands-on care for patients with type-II diabetes, pre-diabetes, and obesity.
