Medical Director - National Medicare
HumanaFull Time
Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
The Associate CMO requires at least 10 years of experience directly managing physicians and nurse practitioners in a dynamic, high-accountability environment, with experience in hiring, firing, evaluating, and promoting other physicians and non-physicians. Most likely, this leader comes from a business/corporate role, although consideration will be given to leadership roles in large private practices or similar organizations.
The Associate CMO will lead the Virta Medical Group (VMG), guiding a high-performing team of physicians and nurse practitioners while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and collaborative support. They will develop and mentor clinical managers, oversee the recruitment, training, and onboarding of new clinicians, implement and manage quality assurance programs, collaborate with clinical safety leaders to improve care quality at scale, manage clinician evaluations, and work cross-functionally with coaching, product, and operations teams. Additionally, the role involves representing Virta externally and maintaining a small patient panel, providing hands-on care for patients with type-II diabetes, pre-diabetes, and obesity.
Reverses type 2 diabetes through personalized care
Virta Health focuses on reversing type 2 diabetes through a combination of personalized nutrition, continuous remote care, and behavioral science. Their treatment is designed for individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, healthcare providers, and enterprise partners like employers and health plans. Unlike many competitors, Virta Health operates on a performance-based model, meaning they only receive payment if they achieve successful outcomes for their patients. This aligns their financial incentives with patient health improvements. The company's goal is to reverse type 2 diabetes in 100 million people, making their approach not just about managing diabetes but actively working towards its reversal.
