We are seeking a VMware ESX Platform Operations Engineer to join our Cloud and Connectivity organization and contribute to revolutionizing Infrastructure Operations with AI and Automation. This role focuses on supporting and managing enterprise VMware ESX-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) capabilities, both on-premises and in Microsoft Azure.
Requirements
Experience
- 4+ years of experience in VMware administration and server virtualization.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of VMware ESX platform.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) capabilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of multi-datacenter operations.
Soft Skills
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a multifaceted enterprise environment.
- Mentorship and direction skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintain system stability for enterprise VMware ESX-based IaaS capabilities (on-premises and Azure).
- Automate operational tasks related to infrastructure management.
- Ensure high availability for critical workloads.
- Support multi-datacenter operations.
- Implement solutions to improve availability and reliability.
- Work with critical infrastructure supporting Lilly Manufacturing and research sites in multi-datacenter stretch clusters.
- Improve infrastructure availability and reliability through repeatable patterns, AI OPS, Event Driven Automation, and robust Observability.
- Provide mentorship and direction to global Lilly operations SMEs and other platform infrastructure operations SMEs.
- Drive Infrastructure Operations to never have to fix the same problem twice through adoption of AI OPS, Event Driven Automation, and robust Observability.
- Accelerate initiatives in areas such as: Infrastructure AI OPS automation, cloud IaaS management, and cloud infrastructure as code.
