Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in datacenter hardware operations, hardware engineering, or large-scale server maintenance, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead technician capacity. Deep knowledge of high-density server hardware, including x86 platforms, GPUs, storage devices, and power/cooling systems is required. Experience with large-scale cluster management or monitoring tools, GPU-accelerated compute clusters, Linux/Unix system administration, and applying Environmental Health and Safety best practices are preferred. Candidates must be willing to be based full-time at a partner-operated campus in Abilene, Texas.
The Datacenter Hardware Operations Technician will serve as the primary on-site hardware contact, collaborating with partner teams and vendors to plan and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and lifecycle activities. Responsibilities include sharing technical requirements, verifying work quality, coordinating schedules and spare parts, translating software-detected issues into hardware actions, tracking hardware trends, and providing recommendations for improvements. The role also involves preparing documentation and runbooks, offering technical guidance to partner personnel, and collaborating with supply-chain teams to manage hardware lifecycle activities.
