Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in transportation, supply chain, or logistics. They should have at least seven years of relevant transportation operations experience, with a preference for supervisory or management roles. Demonstrated effectiveness in utilizing Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for planning and optimization, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of the organization, is also required. Previous experience in reducing costs and improving transportation networks across multiple facilities, along with familiarity with DOT regulations, is highly desirable.
As a Regional Transportation Manager, the individual will oversee the overall cost and performance of Owens & Minor’s transportation network within assigned regions, focusing on reducing transportation expenses and improving performance. They will manage the regional Dedicated Contract Carriage relationship, ensuring partner compliance and key metric achievement. The role involves partnering with Area and Distribution Center leadership to develop and implement transportation strategies, including fleet sizing, route analysis, and carrier selection. Responsibilities also include implementing transportation performance improvement projects, managing relationships with carriers and vendors, participating in sourcing events, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Furthermore, the manager will collaborate with various teams to support customer transitions and perform analysis of the regional transportation network, ultimately contributing to the company’s overarching transportation strategy.
