Regional Sales Manager - Oncology

Position Overview

Tempus is seeking a passionate and driven Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to lead a Regional Sales Team and exceed sales goals across Tempus’s product portfolio. This role is crucial in connecting an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time. You will be instrumental in redefining how genomic data is used in clinical settings, particularly within cancer genomics.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Achievement: Responsible for achieving regional sales objectives, including revenue and expense targets.
  • Business Planning & Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive regional and territory business plans.
  • Sales Strategy: Direct the execution of sales strategies and tactics, and implement sales and marketing plans.
  • Customer Relationships: Develop and maintain key customer relationships with target audiences, assisting in developing mutually beneficial business solutions and applying broader business scenarios to achieve breakthrough results.
  • Team Development: Plan and conduct regional sales meetings to inform and convey product knowledge, applications, and enhance sales and business skills. Evaluate the performance of Clinical Account Executives.
  • Market Knowledge: Maintain a high level of product and market knowledge.
  • Contracting: Identify contracting opportunities with academic medical centers, large cancer centers, health systems, and other strategically important key accounts.
  • CRM Management: Provide management oversight of Tempus’s CRM solution for the defined geographic region.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to access resources and maximize outcomes.
  • Decision Making: Make day-to-day decisions required to manage a business function, including deploying resources, allocating costs, and directing business activities.
  • Strategic Analysis: Secure and analyze relevant information, including region-specific knowledge, market intelligence, and environmental factors, to identify key issues and commit to action after developing alternative solutions that consider strategic objectives, resource constraints, and organizational values.

Requirements

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep domain knowledge of the Diagnostic Services industry. Molecular Diagnostic experience strongly preferred.
  • Sales Experience: Experience selling Oncology based tests and services into the Pathology and/or Oncology clinical communities preferred. Experience within complex selling environments is required.
  • Talent Management: Demonstrated success in recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining talent.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ability to prioritize and align organizational goals and objectives; enable innovation.
  • Cross-functional Skills: Ability to develop and utilize cross-functional relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals and objectives.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to provide an integrated MolDx/SaaS solution using Tempus’s sequencing technology to prospects and customers.
  • Consultative Selling: Ability to engage in a consultative selling process that overcomes objections and indifferences.
  • Travel: This is a front-line sales management/leadership position covering several states requiring frequent travel to work with Account Executives in their assigned territories.
