Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Logistics or Transportation underwriting. Preferred qualifications include CPCU, CIC, CRIS certifications, a Property & Casualty Brokers License, and experience with various transportation modes and coverages such as GL, Workers Comp, Inland Marine & Cargo, Environmental, and Umbrella. Strong customer service skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn industry-specific software are also required, along with flexibility and a collaborative spirit.
The Underwriter will review insurance applications, evaluate risks, and determine coverage acceptance or decline based on established guidelines and pricing strategies to ensure profitability. Responsibilities include approving or declining applications within authority limits, preparing referrals for risks exceeding individual authority, and ensuring underwriting activities comply with regulations. The role involves documenting underwriting files with risk analysis and pricing justification, offering recommendations to clients to reduce exposure, collaborating with the underwriting team, utilizing databases and specialized software for data gathering and risk comparison, responding to customer needs, and processing accounts from quote to policy issuance.
