Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical billing department, including strong AR account follow-up and appeals. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated knowledge of healthcare medical collections, strong reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical skills, the ability to work independently and meet deadlines, an Associate Degree or CPB certification, experience with NextGen, and mental health experience.

Responsibilities

The Patient Billing Specialist is responsible for resolving claim-related payment issues, managing outstanding accounts receivable, monitoring accounts, processing payments, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records. This role involves reviewing claims for accuracy, correcting billing errors, answering patient and insurance calls, promptly responding to information requests, and conducting outreach to payers and patients regarding unresolved balances. The specialist will also document issues and resolutions, work on follow-up claim and phone queues, and track information requests from payers, providers, and patients to achieve performance goals.
