Responsibilities

The Medical & Billing Coder will evaluate the appropriateness of codes and determine if they meet established program standards, ensuring medical records are matched appropriately to the codes and obtaining them if necessary. They will read and apply policy guidelines and healthcare terminology, evaluate claims for conflict of interest and criteria appropriateness, and work within established timeframes to provide strong customer service skills and clinical oversight for complex cases. The role also involves communicating with other reviewers and client teams to ensure clarity and timely returns of reports, serving as an additional level of QA and clinical knowledge for cases with quality issues.
