Job Description: Microbiology Division

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: 10-hour shifts, days

Position Overview

The Microbiology Division provides solutions and workflow for food, clinical, and pharmaceutical environments. We serve markets including food manufacturing and labs, clinical and healthcare, pharma, and biotech. Our division manufactures culture media and other microbiological diagnostic products for customers in pharmaceutical, food, and clinical laboratories.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
  • Cleanroom Requirements: No hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, or facial hair allowed.
  • Exposure to loud noises from equipment/machinery.
  • Requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, and earplugs.
  • Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
  • Will work with hazardous/toxic materials.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all written procedures.
  • Report discrepancies in procedures (SOP’s, DHR’s, etc.) to the Area Supervisor.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Refer to specific job Safety Analysis.
  • Listen to, follow, and relay written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Report property damage and/or safety hazards to the Supervisor, Human Resources, Safety Specialist, or Senior Management immediately.
  • Document accurately and check personal work for quality and compliance.
  • Efficiently and safely operate assigned machinery.
  • Perform simple maintenance and report malfunctioning equipment immediately to the Supervisor or Lead.
  • Continuously supervise product for defects.
  • Perform simple maintenance and make necessary adjustments to machinery.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including all assigned equipment.
  • Accurately dispense required additives to media and properly perform techniques for pH balance as needed.
  • Read, understand, and complete required documentation accurately and neatly.
  • Set up and adjust machines to run a variety of sizes and types using tools.
  • Help to maintain quality assurance in your position at all times.
  • Help to improve the production process by actively engaging in making suggestions for improvement.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • 1-2 years in a manufacturing or regulated environment.
  • Aseptic experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to push/pull up to 600lb kettles.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
  • Comfortable performing basic math.
