Field Service Engineer AMD - Madrid (Temporary)

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for on-site system and instrument installations, maintenance, and resolving hardware and software issues for Abbott Molecular clients. This role requires active collaboration with other Service and Commercial colleagues to enhance customer service and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and implementation of new systems at customer sites.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, hardware and software upgrades, and repair interventions on molecular instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting application and instrumentation issues via telephone and on-site.
  • Managing complaint logging and tracking within Call Management Systems.
  • Providing on-site customer support and training for software and hardware upgrades.
  • Collaborating closely with Application Support Specialists and the Commercial team to deliver excellent customer service and support business growth.
  • Actively participating in Abbott Molecular conference calls, service summits, expert meetings, and workshops.
  • Providing primary service and support to the defined territory.
  • Providing back-up service support outside of the assigned territory as needed.
  • Maintaining and managing personal tools, accessories, and spare parts inventory kits according to defined procedures, including timely validations.
  • Reporting to Service Management, including spare part usage reports.
  • Representing Abbott in a professional manner.
  • Informing Service Management about product usage and any related observations.

Requirements

  • Scientific mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, autonomy, and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Active listening abilities.
  • Diploma/College degree; a University degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of English (C1 level - listening and writing). Additional language skills are advantageous.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned area (Madrid, Iberia - 50%).
