This role, as a Federal SE on the Public Sector team, acts as the CTO for their territory. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of the sales process, including product positioning, demonstrations, competitive strategies, and proving value. Building and maintaining relationships with customers, prospects, and partners is key. This is a hands-on role for individuals who want to own outcomes, improve software supply chain security for the government, and contribute to business and team growth.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Public Sector sales team to develop and implement account plans.
  • Collaborate with the Public Sector marketing team to create brand awareness campaigns and grow pipeline.
  • Focus on acquiring new customers and expanding relationships with existing ones.
  • Own all technical aspects of sales opportunities to secure technical wins.
  • Assist current customers with their growth and technical needs.
  • Understand customer software development, security, and deployment processes to identify how Chainguard products can help.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and Proofs of Value (POVs).
  • Grow pipeline by participating in webinars, meetups, conferences, and other Public Sector marketing initiatives.
  • Act as an advocate for customer needs within Chainguard.

Requirements

  • Experience working with the federal government (CIV, DOD, or IC).
  • Familiarity with accreditation and security policies such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or HIPAA.
  • For IC-focused candidates, an active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Significant experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • DevOps / DevSecOps
    • Container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, etc.)
    • Container vulnerability scanning, analysis, and mitigation
    • AppSec
  • Demonstrated ability to be smart, passionate, and take action with a sense of ownership.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to build customer trust and guide them to optimal solutions.
  • Strong ability to inspire and influence others.
