Common App is currently searching for a Digital Workplace Engineer.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Technical Operations team reporting to the Director, Technical Operations, this senior-level role will design, implement, and optimize digital workplace solutions across key enterprise platforms. The Digital Workplace Engineer will serve as a cross-system integrator, implementing solutions that align business needs with technical capabilities. They will collaborate with stakeholders to design efficient, secure, and scalable solutions.

  • Experience:
    • 4-6 years of experience designing and implementing scalable integration solutions across enterprise platforms; proven track record as an integration or solutions architect.
    • Experience implementing, operating, and integrating enterprise-level solutions (ERP, CRM, Lead-to-Close, Service Management, etc.).
    • Hands-on experience with enterprise SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, Google Workspace, Atlassian products and Java‑based SaaS solutions; ability to extend and integrate these platforms using platform‑specific languages (e.g., Apex, Java, Python).
    • Experience with integration platforms (MuleSoft, Workato, Boomi, Apache Camel, etc.).
    • Experience with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and infrastructure as code.
    • Experience with data modeling, database design (SQL/NoSQL), and monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack, Datadog).
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, business information technology, systems engineering or relevant field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of integration patterns and protocols (REST, SOAP, message queues) and expertise with API management and ESB technologies.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java and Python, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and integration tasks.
    • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Ability to interpret business processes, map them to technical workflows and design integrations that support end‑to‑end automation.
    • Advanced proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Creative problem solver who enjoys experimenting with technology to deliver innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of explaining technical issues to a variety of audiences.
    • Strong interpersonal and mentorship abilities, fostering collaboration across teams.
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills to identify root causes of complex issues and contribute to the design and delivery of effective, data-driven solutions.
