Divergent: Defense Sustainment Lead

Position Overview

Divergent is a technology company revolutionizing manufacturing with its end-to-end factory system, the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS™). DAPS leverages machine learning for optimal engineering, additive manufacturing, and flexible assembly of complex vehicle structures and subsystems. Products created with DAPS offer superior performance, lower cost, rapid customization, faster time-to-market, and scalable production. As a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, Divergent is expanding to support critical needs in the Aerospace and Defense sector.

We are seeking a Defense Sustainment Lead to spearhead our strategic engagement and business development efforts within the defense sustainment domain. This role will focus on two key areas:

  • Contract Manufacturing: Direct production of components, subassemblies, and structures for defense sustainment programs.
  • Distributed Manufacturing: Deployment of DAPS to enable secure, scalable, and digitally-driven production across the defense industrial base.

Join us to be part of a transformative journey shaping the future of technology and production.

The Role

Strategy Development

  • Develop and execute a tailored sustainment strategy.
  • Identify near- and long-term opportunities across contract and distributed manufacturing pathways.

Defense Engagement

  • Cultivate relationships with key defense agencies and commands responsible for sustainment and logistics.
  • Engage with organizations such as the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), and the Joint Staff J4.

Cross-Pillar Execution

  • Bridge Divergent’s internal production capabilities with external DAPS deployment.
  • Ensure integrated delivery across both contract manufacturing and distributed manufacturing lines of effort.

Use Case & Pilot Leadership

  • Lead efforts to demonstrate mission impact.
  • Focus on areas like rapid spare part production and digitally native designs enabled by DAPS in contested logistics environments.

Operational Alignment

  • Ensure DAPS tools and outputs meet defense-specific technical, logistical, and security requirements.
  • Adhere to standards including TAA, ITAR, and cyber-physical integration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Senior leadership experience in or with defense sustainment organizations.
  • Deep understanding of logistics strategy, acquisition pathways, and operational needs.
  • Proven ability to drive business development and strategic partnerships in the national security or defense sector.
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing, defense innovation ecosystems, and sustainment or modernization programs.
  • Strong communication and translation skills, capable of bridging conversations between engineering, operations, and policy communities.
  • Demonstrated success working across teams and guiding programs from concept to execution in complex environments.
