Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills are required, along with a proven ability to manage and develop teams. Strong work ethic, prioritization skills, and the ability to anticipate change and resolve issues simultaneously are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate financial information for various business audiences, are necessary. Demonstrated ability to persuasively present complex business issues and solutions clearly and concisely is expected. Strong passion for local broadcasting, news, and community, along with the ability to build strong relationships with senior station executives, is crucial. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration is mandatory, with an MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.
The VP, Operations & Business Planning is responsible for KABC-TV operations, business management, and planning, developing deep operational knowledge of linear and multi-platform businesses, and leading all annual planning and analysis activities. This role oversees the KABC real estate footprint, manages tenant relationships, and works closely with the Station President/General Manager to develop and implement strategic visions. Key duties include leading the execution of long and short-range planning, financial review, consolidation, and presentation of forecasts, operating plans, capital plans, and five-year plans. The position is responsible for preparing and reviewing quarterly financial statements, acting as a business advisor and partner to the management team, and advising on business planning assumptions and opportunities. Responsibilities also include creating, maintaining, and reporting on key business metrics, preparing presentations and ad hoc analysis, staying informed about the television industry landscape and new trends, and developing and managing professional staff. The role involves reviewing local contracts, partnering with Legal and Labor Relations on CBAs and Union coordination, driving business planning for revenue-generating events, partnering with the Tax department on tax returns, and collaborating with Corporate Real Estate and Facility Management. Additionally, the VP will partner closely with HR on FCC EEO reporting and coordinate with internal and external business partners for payment processing and expense reviews.
