Requirements

Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, ideally as a VP of Engineering or similar, with a track record of managing and scaling engineering teams of 15+ members
Strong technical expertise in modern software development, including architecture, security, compliance, and hands-on experience with technologies such as Python, Django, Golang, React, and Next.js
Track record of delivering enterprise-level B2B platforms or SaaS solutions—ideally in a regulated or highly secure industry like insurance, healthcare, or fintech
Demonstrated ability to lead in a regulated industry or a highly compliant environment is a plus, with a clear understanding of balancing technical rigor and business needs
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to build trust
Willing and able to work in-office three days per week in NYC (hybrid role)

Responsibilities

Lead, grow, and inspire a lean but mighty engineering team—instilling a culture of trust, technical excellence, high ownership, and continuous learning
Drive the evolution of Wagmo’s technology architecture, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure systems that support both current operations and ambitious growth plans
Partner with executive leadership and product and customer teams to align engineering execution with business priorities, with a sharp focus on our B2B growth and enterprise-scale solutions
Institutionalize best-in-class engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, observability, documentation, and architectural decision-making to raise quality while shipping at speed
Operationalize engineering workflows that improve productivity, prioritization, and performance management—while empowering engineering managers and ICs alike
Navigate and resolve technical debt with a pragmatic, ROI-driven approach—balancing short-term deliverables with long-term scalability
Foster engineering visibility across the organization by clearly communicating tradeoffs, timelines, and resource needs to leadership and stakeholders
Shape the technology roadmap, manage performance, and foster a culture of excellence and accountability (reporting directly to senior leadership)
