Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy efficiency, retro-commissioning (RCx), or building systems engineering. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration, thermal/fluid systems, and other commercial/industrial building systems is required, along with demonstrated experience reviewing technical reports and performing QA/QC of engineering deliverables. Excellent communication, writing, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects and work in dynamic environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related analysis tools is necessary, and willingness to travel locally up to 25% is expected. Preferred qualifications include a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential, a Master's degree, and hands-on knowledge of commissioning and retro-commissioning procedures.
The Engineering Lead will support the implementation of retro-commissioning (RCx) and energy management projects for commercial and industrial facilities, and review Qualified Service Provider (QSP) submissions for accuracy and alignment with program requirements. They will provide technical review comments, support the development of program materials, and work with stakeholders to qualify RCx projects and assess feasibility. Responsibilities include preparing summaries of project results, conducting site visits to verify project scope and assess building systems, and potentially leading and mentoring junior engineers to ensure quality standards and timeline adherence. The role also involves providing training and technical guidance to junior engineers, identifying barriers to project implementation, and proposing solutions.
