Requirements

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. A minimum of 15 years of legal experience is required, with a strong in-house track record at high-growth, marketplace or platform-based companies, and marketplace company experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience across commercial and/or compliance legal areas, including document and contract preparation and review of vendor/supplier agreements and customer/sales agreements, is essential. Corporate legal experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

The VP, Legal will serve as a key legal advisor to the Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer and the executive leadership team. This role involves leading the legal function through strategic planning, budget oversight, managing team accountability, and supporting team development. Responsibilities include building scalable legal infrastructure such as contracting systems, playbooks, and workflows. The VP will oversee all legal functions, setting the strategic vision for commercial, product, regulatory affairs & compliance, and insurance and litigation. They will also direct corporate legal matters, including governance, risk management, and entity structuring, and oversee the compliance function, ensuring robust controls across data privacy, regulatory filings, and internal policies. Collaboration with cross-functional partners in Policy, Communications, and Safety is expected to support strategic initiatives and manage legal and reputational risk. The role also involves partnering with GTM, Finance, Product, and People teams to address legal issues in a fast-paced environment and leading a team of 10 legal professionals while managing outside counsel relationships.
