Requirements

Candidates must be admitted to the bar in CA or NY, or registered as in-house counsel in those states, and possess 5+ years of legal experience, with at least 2 years of in-house commercial legal experience at a cloud-based software technology company. A strong understanding of cloud services, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS business practices, and relevant global regulatory requirements is essential, along with excellent judgment, risk assessment, and mitigation skills. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, be a cooperative team player, and be able to confidently and independently manage and negotiate technology agreements. Experience with AI tools, open source software, and supporting channel and reseller partnerships are considered bonuses.

Responsibilities

The Legal Counsel will serve as a legal point of contact for go-to-market and procurement deals, providing practical day-to-day and strategic advice to business teams. Responsibilities include negotiating partnership, reseller, customer, and vendor agreements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable processes that increase deal velocity. The role also involves drafting and maintaining agreement templates and contributing to special projects as needed, potentially including product development.
