Position Overview

Smile Digital Health is seeking a Software Developer to maintain and develop the core software components of our innovative health data platform. This role involves working on the storage layer, management tools, interface and integration components, and deployment infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with various business areas to gather product requirements, design, implement, and test system components. This position requires participation in after-hours support and a 24-hour on-call rotation for Tier 2 issue support.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate requirements, proposing high-level design and technical solutions for internal and external customer issues.
  • Analyze solutions to ensure interoperability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Work with the Tier 1 support team to diagnose and correct issues reported in customer incidents.
  • Collaborate with core development and client solutions teams to ensure fixes meet core and customer technical/architectural requirements.
  • Mentor Tier 1 Service Desk staff and other developers on technical guidelines, functionality, debugging, performance, operational procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Participate in major incident response teams.
  • Ensure relevant documentation and frameworks are maintained and up-to-date.
  • Research technologies for new and existing solution modules.
  • Gather product requirements and design, implement, and test system components.
  • Advise and provide input on good technical design and industry trends.
  • Analyze and solve problems, identify issues, and implement solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and lead less experienced developers (junior/co-op).
  • Break down work for team members and serve as a point person for project issues and status.
  • Propose new techniques and technologies for software development.
  • Uphold coding standards for the team/department.
  • Manage tools and frameworks used by the team/department.
  • Comply with privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.
  • Hold all confidential information in trust and strict confidence, using it only for employment obligations and not disclosing it to third parties.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development or equivalent experience.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, software development, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Experience developing software applications, including unit and functional test practices, end-to-end feature development, and building components.
