Knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, construction principles and practices, safety standards, and business processes
Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory, concepts, and hands-on technical instruction with clarity, confidence, and enthusiasm
Leadership and coaching abilities
Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel)
Working knowledge of labor contracts
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in Transmission, Distribution, and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers, and supervising employees
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
Massachusetts Driver’s License
D.O.T. certification preferred
Responsibilities
Develop and conduct technical training programs for Electric Operations, Gas Operations, and Meter Technical employees, including classroom, on-the-job, conceptual, and hands-on methods
Participate in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment
Revise and maintain standards and procedures
Conduct quality assurance audits
Supervise, evaluate, and certify field employees
Analyze job tasks and current field performance with field personnel and supervisors to determine training needs and program content
Implement training programs and field quality audit programs
Supervise, direct, and instruct trainees during classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training assignments
Evaluate trainee performance during training and follow up through field visits, observations, and refresher training
Update and incorporate new procedures and revisions into training programs
Review work with vendors, technical experts, engineers, and field personnel to provide operational input on new equipment selection, operation, and development of new construction standards
Serve as local technical lead or coach for other supervisors (Senior Supervisor level)
Develop and coach other supervisors in various aspects of their role (Senior Supervisor level)
Authorize re-allocation of resources in situations with conflicting priorities (Senior Supervisor level)
Drive innovation and change in business processes (Senior Supervisor level)
Lead area work center activities during manager absence (Senior Supervisor level)
Represent manager at department, customer, and community meetings (Senior Supervisor level)
