Strategic approach to sourcing, supplier relationship management, and cost analysis
Experience in selecting, developing, and managing supply base for production material
Ability to maintain competitive pricing with emphasis on cost reductions, quality, and supplier delivery performance
Proven procurement skills in automotive or non-automotive environment (market testing, supplier evaluations, risk assessments)
Knowledge of cost reduction techniques: Design for Value (DfV), VA/VE, Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Assembly (DfA), lean concepts
Familiarity with cost model tools, bubble charts, Long Term Agreements (LTA), Business Incentives (BI), Annual Improvement Factor (AIF), supplier bundling/dual sourcing
Ability to interpret blueprints and evaluate customer needs
Capability to build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships with good communication
Knowledge of company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures
Awareness of available and new technologies and best practices in purchasing
Responsibilities
Negotiate long-term agreements for series production components
Strategize purchasing of automotive and industrial components locally and globally with support of Global Commodity Managers
Plan, organize, track, and disseminate information related to production suppliers
Create/develop new cost reduction ideas year over year (YOY) using DfV, VA/VE, DfM, DfA, lean concepts, etc
Meet or exceed metrics developed by corporate goals
Support global commodity strategy and processes
Select suppliers through market testing, supplier evaluations, and risk assessments
Reduce YOY costs through aggressive negotiations, resourcing, market tests, Value Analysis, LTA, BI, AIF, supplier bundling/dual sourcing
Explore and pursue cost reduction opportunities using cost model tools and bubble charts
Recommend supplier process utilization by interpreting blueprints and evaluating customer needs
Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communications
Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures during supplier negotiations and contract awards
Explore available and new technologies in the market and implement best practices related to purchasing activities
Develop new suppliers that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements
Prepare and lead RFQs for multi-year full production quantities
Evaluate part designs with engineering, quality, and suppliers to obtain optimum efficiencies
Participate in purchasing-related internal meetings and prepare reports for senior management
