Senior Engineering Manager

Position Overview

Cars Commerce is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager with 5+ years of experience to lead our front-end client and back-end services teams. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity, requiring you to manage projects from conception to completion, collaborating with engineers, product, design, and data stakeholders. You will be responsible for the technical execution and delivery of solutions across multiple product feature teams, impacting millions of users on desktop, mobile web, iOS, and Android.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering management.
  • Proven experience leading front-end client and back-end services teams.
  • Experience managing projects from idea to delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate with junior and senior engineers, as well as cross-functional stakeholders in product, design, and data.
  • Experience driving development across desktop and mobile responsive web, iOS, and Android.
  • Experience in hiring and retaining top talent.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching engineers.
  • Passion for new and emerging technologies, organizational theory, process, and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the direct manager for front-end client and back-end services teams.
  • Own project management and execution, including discovery, technical solutioning, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope and technical approaches.
  • Ship solutions to millions of users across various platforms (desktop, mobile web, iOS, Android).
  • Drive the development of back-end services supporting all front-end clients.
  • Mentor and support team members, guiding them through product-driven challenges and technical problems.
  • Facilitate sprint ceremonies, manage projects, and guide technical decisions.
  • Empower team members to achieve their personal career goals.
  • Lead hiring efforts to ensure team success.

  • Influence and define engineering practices, processes, and execution within the organization.
