Position Overview

Serve Robotics is reimagining urban mobility with our personable sidewalk robot. We're building the future of deliveries, taking them away from congested streets and benefiting local businesses. We're looking for a Delivery Platform Engineering Lead to oversee the development of highly scalable and robust systems powering our Delivery and Fleet Management platforms. You'll spend approximately 75% of your time coding, designing, and reviewing Elixir code, while also providing leadership and direction to a small, focused engineering team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development
  • 2+ years of experience in Elixir or Erlang
  • Strong background in building large-scale, distributed systems
  • Solid grasp of concurrency, fault tolerance, and event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP)

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain distributed systems in Elixir, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and performance.
  • Mentor a small team of engineers, establish best practices, and lead by example through hands-on coding and code reviews.
  • Own the Delivery and Fleet Management platforms, ensuring they meet SLAs, reliability targets, and evolving business requirements.
  • Identify bottlenecks, devise solutions, and optimize systems to handle rapid increases in traffic and data volume.
  • Partner with product managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Champion code quality, testing strategies, and continuous integration/deployment.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance team productivity.
  • Experience staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, integrating relevant tools and techniques to keep our platforms cutting-edge.
