Position Overview

Illumina is seeking two Senior District Sales Managers to lead our growing teams in Italy. One position will be based in Milan, and the other in Rome. This role reports to the Sales Director and will manage a team of Territory Account Managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the execution of Illumina’s commercial strategies, ensuring budgeted annual sales and profit objectives are met within designated territories and for the district overall.

Requirements

  • Life sciences background.
  • Experience selling technology, medical devices, and capital equipment (capex).
  • Familiarity with public tenders and a clinical environment.
  • Proven sales leadership with a structured approach.
  • Sales and people management experience.
  • Sales force experience.
  • Accurate forecasting abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships at every level in the organization.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills (oral and written) for internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the district business plan to meet assigned revenue and strategic objectives.
  • Provide direction, support, and motivation to the district sales team to meet agreed targets and objectives.
  • Establish territory quotas and achieve quarterly and annual sales and profit plans.
  • Routinely forecast, monitor, and control selling and other expenses for the district within assigned budgets.
  • Accurately forecast customer demand (product quantities and dollars, orders, shipments).
  • Ensure sales staff achieves forecasts, follows company guidelines/practices/policies, and provide timely development plans for underperformance.
  • Ensure Illumina’s commitment to customer satisfaction is performed, delivered, and constantly improved.
  • Drive talent acquisition, talent development, and performance management within the team.
