Wikimedia is seeking an experienced Product Manager to join the Product and Technology department. This role focuses on creating products and features for users of the multilingual Wikimedia sites, contributing to the vision of a world where everyone can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. This is a significant opportunity to impact one of the internet's most recognized platforms.
Wikipedia serves over 1 billion users monthly across more than 300 languages, with content created and managed by over 200,000 volunteer editors. The Language and Product Localization team aims to drive product innovation in visually rich, mobile-friendly, and multilingual workflows. The team supports internationalization, localization, and translation tools, addressing the unique challenges of connecting a diverse, globally dispersed user base. A recent milestone includes the Content Translation tool, used to create over 2 million Wikipedia articles since 2015. The team's challenge is to maintain the multilingual strength of Wikimedia projects while addressing knowledge inequity and leveraging existing knowledge-sharing practices for solutions.
