Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business or Risk Management/Insurance or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in health and welfare compliance from a brokerage, consulting, or law firm. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products is required, and a Paralegal or CEBS Certification with ERISA/Employee Benefits experience, a JD with ERISA/Employee Benefits experience, or a Producer Life, Accident & Health License are considered a plus. A thorough understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment for health and welfare plan benefits, outstanding oral and written communication skills including presentation ability, and the capacity to multitask, meet deadlines, and simplify complex information are essential.

Responsibilities

The Senior Employee Benefits Compliance Consultant will serve as a subject-matter expert for clients on health and welfare plan regulatory compliance, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and IRC Sections 125, 129, and 105(h). Responsibilities include providing advice on plan design, implementation, and administration, conducting compliance assessments (mock audits), drafting regulatory documents such as plan documents and amendments, and guiding clients on Form 5500 preparation and DOL's Delinquent Filer Voluntary Compliance Program. The role also involves conducting HIPAA training, researching and answering compliance-related questions for clients and internal teams, participating in prospective client meetings, and drafting communications on regulatory changes.
