The Analytics team at EvenUp is instrumental in driving data-informed decision-making throughout the organization. We collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Executive teams to deliver insights, build scalable data solutions, and foster a data-driven culture. Our responsibilities span foundational data modeling and reporting to advanced analytics and forecasting.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Analytics to join our dynamic, data-driven team. In this role, you will be crucial in building and scaling the data infrastructure that supports fast, reliable, and actionable insights. You will collaborate with partner teams on end-to-end analytics initiatives and work alongside Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Operations personnel.

Please Note: This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in one of our office hubs located in San Francisco or Toronto, Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, analytics, and operations teams to understand data needs and translate them into scalable models and pipelines.
  • Build and maintain robust, well-documented ELT pipelines using tools such as dbt, Airflow/Dagster, and Snowflake (or similar).
  • Own the design and evolution of data models that support reporting, experimentation, and product feature instrumentation.
  • Enhance data quality and reliability by establishing and maintaining testing, monitoring, and alerting practices.
  • Contribute to the advancement of our data architecture, focusing on usability, performance, strong data governance, and scalability.
  • Mentor other engineers and analysts on data best practices, modeling standards, and tooling.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or Business Intelligence Engineer, preferably in product-focused, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong experience in designing dimensional models and defining clear source-of-truth metrics.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data transformation.
  • Comfort in at least one functional/OOP language such as Python or Scala for data wrangling or orchestration logic.
  • Expertise in creating compelling reporting and data visualization solutions using dashboarding tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Metabase).
  • A self-starter with comfort working in fast-paced and evolving environments, demonstrating a bias toward action.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating closely with product managers and business stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and trust across functions and work collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail, structured thinking, and experience developing processes to reduce human error.

  • Experience with DBT / BigQuery / Dagster / Python.
