Senior Software Engineer - Pipeline Team

Salary: $171K - $190K Location Type: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Flock Safety is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join our pipeline team. This role is crucial for accommodating the rapid expansion of our workload in the audio space, driven by increasing customer adoption and data volume. The primary goal is to maintain low pipeline latency, effectively handle large-scale data ingestion, and develop new features that support business objectives.

Our audio systems are a critical component of Flock's safety platform, ingesting and analyzing over 7,500 hours of acoustic data daily. These systems transform raw sound into actionable intelligence in near real-time, enabling the detection of various threats and supporting time-sensitive workflows. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will contribute to scaling a vital pipeline that filters noise, enhances threat detection, and supports our broader safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Passion for Coding: Demonstrated love for writing code with extensive experience.
  • Problem-Solving: Motivated by tackling unknown problems, devising strategies, and executing plans.
  • Web Services: Experience with Go and Typescript (Node) web services.
  • Microservices & Scalability: Strong experience with microservice-oriented architecture and designing systems for scale, handling over 1 billion images daily in real-time.
  • Backend & Databases: Proficient in backend development, database management, and pub/sub systems. Familiarity with Postgres DB, OpenSearch, and Redis is expected.
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with AWS and cloud tooling such as Kubernetes (EKS), AWS Lambda, and Docker.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with other engineering and product teams.

We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification. Studies show that women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all criteria. We value diverse perspectives and encourage you to apply for roles that excite you.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and scale the audio data pipeline to manage increasing data volumes and maintain low latency.
  • Develop and implement new features to support business needs within the audio processing domain.
  • Contribute to the filtering of noise from signal data and improve the detection of new threat types.
  • Support time-sensitive workflows across Flock's safety platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
