Candidates should possess at least 5 years of data engineering experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in cloud data architecture, with AWS preferred. They should have experience with AWS services such as AWS Glue, AWS Athena, AWS Redshift, and AWS RDS, along with Databricks or Spark. Strong skills in Python, relational databases, advanced SQL queries, data cleaning, and data modeling are required, including the ability to protect sensitive data. Additionally, experience with building data integrations using APIs and file-based protocols is necessary, and a tenacity to solve problems and iterate in working code is expected.
The Data Engineer will be responsible for collecting data access patterns and reviewing current data models to optimize designs for customer use cases, developing scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines, implementing large-scale data ecosystems within cloud-based platforms, leveraging and enhancing automation to speed development and improve reliability and performance, and working with cross-functional project teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. They will also collaborate with government partners to assist in developing data engineering applications and pipelines, designing, developing, testing, automating, and deploying data engineering solutions in cloud platforms like AWS, participating in software design and code reviews, and maintaining security and privacy standards. Finally, they will be involved in post-production testing and support, as well as contributing to strategy and planning for modernizing legacy platforms to improve public-facing processes and user experiences.
