Position Overview:

Sales Representatives are responsible for selling research products and services within a defined territory. This role involves maintaining effective customer relations, developing growth opportunities within an existing customer base, ensuring market penetration and profitability, and achieving sales and profit forecasts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective customer relations with purchasing and end-users within the assigned territory.
  • Independently make decisions and utilize available resources to meet customer needs, working effectively with cross-functional teams of suppliers and internal resources.
  • Seek broader relationships within accounts to facilitate networking and prospecting.
  • Perform sales calls and manage vendor relations with all customers and potential customers in the assigned territory.
  • Research competitor and industry activity, staying informed of new products/services and incorporating this data into the business plan.
  • Introduce new products and services.
  • Manage pricing within the territory to control profitability.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, records, and files necessary for proper territory management.
  • Communicate customer issues or potential problems to supervisors.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management.
  • Inform customers of supply and price trends, assist in inventory control, and consult with customers.
  • Positively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times at customer locations.

Keys to Success:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry, OR relevant lab experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and the internet.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong industry, pharmaceutical, and science background preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range (California): $52,600.00 – $78,850.00 annually.

Bonus Eligibility: This position may be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results, in accordance with company policy.
