Position Overview

The Regional Field Trainer (Irrigation) is responsible for coordinating and conducting training sessions for The Toro Company's irrigation and lighting business. This role is an extension of the sales division, promoting division programs, providing customer support, and reinforcing the value of Toro products. The position requires significant travel and a strong understanding of technical concepts and customer needs.

Toro’s Irrigation and Lighting business, located in Riverside, CA, operates under two distinct brands: Toro® and Irritrol®. We offer a comprehensive range of reliable irrigation products, including controllers, sensors, valves, spray heads, and rotors, designed to serve customers in the care of golf courses, sports fields, public green spaces, commercial, and residential properties.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the shipping of equipment to training sites.
  • Set up and prepare classroom spaces for training sessions.
  • Conduct training sessions covering specific program content related to the assigned business unit.
  • Provide technical support during training, addressing computer and student issues.
  • Collaborate with site management personnel to resolve facility problems.
  • Promote division programs and provide appropriate program support to all customers.
  • Positively represent The Toro Company and its products to customer classes.
  • Reinforce customer satisfaction with their decision to choose Toro products.
  • Develop and improve training manuals and curriculum content between scheduled classes.
  • File company expense reports accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring expenses are cleared at least every two weeks.
  • Exercise care in charging only valid business expenses to the company credit card, including necessary comments for each transaction.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Associate's/2-year degree in a technical discipline.
  • Experience: 2-3+ years of experience in turf-grass management, customer support, or a training environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English & Spanish.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Strong technical skills in PC operating systems, applications, hardware systems, protocols, and software licenses.
    • Extensive application support experience.
    • Proven hardware technical planning and development skills.
    • Ability to research, design, and develop solutions for highly complex technical issues.

Other Job-Related Components:

  • Domestic and international travel required (80%).
  • Employee’s geographical base location must be near an international airport.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations.
  • Ability to lead projects and motivate others.
  • Proven organizational and planning skills; effective time management.
  • Organized self-starter with the initiative to carry out duties independently.
  • Motivated to achieve perfection and maintain professionalism in interactions with customers and staff.
