Requirements

Candidates should possess 6-8 years of public relations and communications experience, either with an agency or in-house, with internship experience potentially applicable. They require direct experience dealing with reporters, experience dealing with public sector employees (law enforcement, elected officials, or city/county employees) is preferable, exceptional written and verbal communication skills with familiarity in press release and media pitch writing styles, a solid understanding of the media landscape, the ability to engage with, develop, and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, and strong organization and time management skills to balance multiple projects. Furthermore, they must be a self-starter capable of working independently and meeting deadlines, and public speaking skills are considered a plus.

Responsibilities

The Public Relations Manager - Public Sector will solicit compelling stories from Flock Safety customers, draft and distribute press releases, pitch stories to relevant news outlets, support press conferences and media events, build and maintain strong relationships with reporters, cultivate and manage relationships with Flock Safety’s public sector customers across the country, respond quickly and efficiently to daily media questions and inquiries, and secure a high volume of positive press coverage each week through proactive outreach and persistence.
