The Communications Manager will oversee and lead communications for legal, advocacy, and public policy initiatives, advancing and protecting the reputation of the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikipedia, and its volunteer community. This includes developing proactive and innovative media and storytelling approaches, managing press interactions, cultivating journalist relationships, pitching stories, and leading reputation management and crisis communications efforts. The role involves crafting messaging, building narratives, producing communications materials, ensuring consistent messaging, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the manager will act as a primary media liaison, handle press inquiries and interviews, develop crisis response plans, and manage relationships with external vendors. The position also includes providing feedback and coaching to direct reports and collaborating with senior management to define team goals.
