Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of communications and media relations experience and be able to work UTC-4 hours daily. Experience in leading high-profile media and communications campaigns, with a core expertise in fast-moving crisis communications, is required.
The Communications Manager will oversee and lead communications for legal, advocacy, and public policy work, developing proactive and innovative media, storytelling, and creative communications approaches. This role involves interacting with the press, cultivating journalist relationships, pitching stories, managing reputation, responding to crises, and ensuring consistent messaging. Responsibilities include serving as a primary point of contact for Global Advocacy and Legal Affairs teams, crafting strategic communications plans, developing messaging and narratives, guiding communications materials, and leading media relations and crisis communications responses. The manager will also act as a primary media liaison, handle press inquiries and interviews, develop crisis communication plans, foster journalist relationships, and engage cross-Foundation team members. Additionally, they will help define team goals, provide feedback and coaching to direct reports, and manage relationships with external vendors.
