Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required. A basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is necessary. Candidates should have the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, possess strong attention to detail and accuracy in food preparation, and demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects are also required, along with a willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen supervisors.
As a Restaurant Prep Cook, you will receive, inspect, and organize all incoming ingredients. You will wash, peel, chop, dice, and slice various ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards, and prepare or cook ingredients such as vegetables, meats, and sauces as specified. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including equipment, utensils, and workstations is essential. You will assist in maintaining sufficient levels of food stock and supplies by monitoring inventory and notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages. Adhering to proper food safety and sanitation guidelines is crucial, as is effective communication and collaboration with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely dish preparation. Additionally, you will handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be adaptable to changing priorities in the kitchen.
