Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience managing complex, multi-state payroll processing and benefits/wellbeing programs. Experience supporting large hourly populations with time cards and time-off is required, along with knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and employment laws. A strong understanding of leave of absence (LOA) types and administration is also necessary. Proficiency with Excel/GoogleSheets, HRIS, and payroll software (Rippling is a plus) is expected, alongside exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities is essential.
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will process bi-weekly hourly payroll and semi-monthly salaried payrolls for a large, US-remote employee population. Responsibilities include managing bi-weekly timecard approvals, state and local payroll tax accounts, and registering for new tax accounts. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations of US benefit plans, including enrollment support, monthly benefit billing, qualifying life events, and addressing team member questions. The specialist will partner with benefits brokers to ensure plan compliance, drive benefit plan utilization through education and communications, and conduct regular audits of benefit programs, payroll deductions, and carrier data. Support for annual payroll and benefit processes such as open enrollment, benefit audits, and quarter-end/year-end activities is also required. Managing self-service resources and continually improving payroll and benefits processes for accuracy and efficiency are key duties.
