The Outbound Business Development Representative (BDR) will leverage core BDR capabilities to generate new business opportunities within accounts not currently showing interest in Spellbook. This role is focused on generating new mid-market connections and deals, collaborating closely with the BDR Manager on campaign strategies, outreach methods, and lead generation channels in new markets.
This position is ideal for a driven and ambitious individual seeking career advancement in sales within a growing organization. It offers the flexibility and freedom associated with a new sales motion targeting a massive Total Addressable Market (TAM).
Responsibilities
- Prospecting and Engagement: Prospect, identify, engage, and qualify new business opportunities through calls, emails, social media, and other channels.
- Activity Management: Maintain a high level of daily activity, including cold calls, emails, and social touches.
- Product Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of Spellbook's products and services to effectively communicate value propositions to prospects.
- Meeting Setting: Set qualified appointments and meetings for the mid-market and enterprise sales teams.
- CRM Management: Track all activities in the CRM system, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Skill Development: Participate in regular workshops, including role-playing sessions, copy creation, and call reviews, to continuously upskill and learn best practices.
- Performance Reporting: Report on successes in a data-driven manner while also considering the qualitative likelihood of a campaign's success.
- Feedback and Improvement: Provide feedback for the development of talk tracks, standard email sequences, and other materials to improve Spellbook's new outbound motion.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the SDR Manager to expand reach, increase engagement, and improve conversion rates.
- Strategy Development: Develop and present new best practices, outreach strategies, and messaging techniques to the team.
- Process Refinement: Work with leadership to implement and refine SDR/BDR processes and workflows.
- Market Awareness: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitors to identify new growth opportunities.
- Territory Ownership: Own an account list and/or territory, leveraging indicators, intent signals, and trends to engage prospects at the optimal time.
- Self-Motivation: Be self-motivated and understand the input and activity volume required to achieve success.
- Tool Proficiency: Demonstrate technical ability with prospecting, sales engagement, and CRM tools, with an emphasis on tracking data and maintaining hygiene in a shared digital space.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of experience as an SDR, BDR, or in a similar sales role.
- Performance: Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding quotas.
- Startup Experience: Experience in a startup environment or building out a new sales motion is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Tool Familiarity: Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Hubspot/Salesforce) and sales engagement tools (e.g., Outreach, SalesLoft).
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
