Candidates should possess a BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related degree with knowledge in the biotechnology/biomedical industry, or equivalent applicable experience. A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience or direct experience servicing Illumina products is required, along with strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
The Onsite Service Engineer 2 will provide daily on-site support for the installation, upgrade, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex Illumina equipment and systems. Responsibilities include proactively monitoring and scheduling tasks to maximize instrument uptime, managing administrative tasks like SFDC case management, building and strengthening customer relationships, performing equipment upgrades and new installations, and utilizing service manuals and bulletins. The role also involves escalating repairs as needed, running reports on instrument failures, leading meetings on instrument performance, partnering with support teams for sustaining engineering activities, and identifying opportunities for site efficiencies to decrease mean time between repair and increase instrument uptime. Additionally, the engineer will ensure proper inventory levels of service parts and act as a resource to assist other service engineers with complex issues.
