Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Medical or Hospital Informatics, or a related field. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in the healthcare industry or 4 years of relevant IT experience outside of healthcare is required. Preferred qualifications include technical knowledge of virtual servers, antivirus software, backup systems, firewalls, VPNs, networking, servers, desktops, internet protocols, and remote access. Familiarity with lab workflows and operations, along with experience as a medical technologist or other lab experience, is ideal. ASCP or CLS (NCA) certification is preferred.
The Informatics Technical Specialist I will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation, testing, and training of Abbott Digital Health applications, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. This role involves applying technical IT and networking knowledge to analyze user needs, gather requirements, and design informatics solutions for clinical diagnostic healthcare customers. The specialist will coordinate with various departments and stakeholders, serve as an informatics applications expert for junior team members, develop mastery of Abbott processes, and lead by example. Responsibilities also include implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system and adhering to the Abbott Code of Business Conduct. The position requires up to 75% travel within the Southwest Region.
