Requirements

Candidates should possess at least 5 years of progressive HR experience in a U.S. organization, with a minimum of 2 years of direct experience managing multi-state HR operations. They require a deep understanding of federal employment law and hands-on experience interpreting and applying diverse state statutes, including wage-payment, leave, and discrimination laws.

Responsibilities

The HR Manager will stay current on federal employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO) and applicable regulations in each of the company’s 13 operating states, advising leadership on compliance risks and drafting policy updates. They will lead investigations of employee complaints and potential violations, serve as a trusted advisor in complex employee relations matters such as discipline and terminations, documenting processes to mitigate legal exposure. The HR Manager will oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accurate tax withholdings, wage-payment compliance, and timely filings across multiple state jurisdictions, partnering with Finance to reconcile payroll and resolve discrepancies. They will manage benefits enrollment and administration, conduct open-enrollment communications, and maintain HRIS data integrity. Additionally, the HR Manager will lead targeted recruitment efforts, including drafting job descriptions, screening candidates, and overseeing the onboarding process to ensure new hires are set up for success.
