Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess 15+ years of digital media or mid-stage startup experience, with a proven record of scaling businesses and managing large-scale operations, along with exceptional communication skills and experience at the intersection of business, editorial, and technology. They must also be able to make decisions fast amid constant trade-offs and demonstrate a strong bias toward action and accountability.

Responsibilities

As the General Manager, Axios Local, the individual will lead vision for a technical and operational system focused on automation to drive scale, test content and business partnerships to strengthen the business model, and oversee the P&L for Axios Local, including investment needs and accountability. They will also own the cross-functional operations of leaders across various departments, work closely with the CTO on a tech and automation roadmap, lead the evolution of products for readers, continuously iterate on organizational structures and headcount, stay connected to the landscape of local media, seek and lead relationships with major partners, and drive a culture of speed, experimentation, and excellence.
