Candidates should possess a university degree in a relevant discipline, though this is considered a plus. A good command of English, both listening and writing, is required. The role also requires 1-5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent customer service, and communication skills are essential. A willingness to travel within the assigned territory is also necessary.
The Field Service Engineer will perform preventative maintenance, hardware and software upgrades, and repairs on molecular instrumentation. They will also be responsible for the installation and implementation of new systems at customer sites. Troubleshooting of applications and instrumentation will be conducted via telephone and on-site visits, including complaint logging and tracking. The engineer will provide on-site customer support for software and hardware upgrades, and collaborate closely with Application Support Specialists and the Commercial team to ensure excellent customer service and support business growth. This role involves actively participating in company conferences, summits, expert meetings, and workshops. The engineer will provide primary service and support within their assigned territory, offering backup support outside of it as needed. They will maintain and manage their own tools, accessories, and spare parts inventory according to defined procedures and report to Service Management, including spare part usage. The Field Service Engineer is expected to represent Abbott professionally and inform Service Management about any issues encountered with Abbott products.
