Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent military technical training or relevant experience in the biotechnology or biomedical industry. A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant field service or technical support experience is required, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively. Willingness to travel within the assigned territory (over 50%) is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Field Service Engineer will act as the primary on-site technical expert for customers, Field Applications Scientists, and Sales Representatives. Responsibilities include performing installations, upgrades, maintenance, and repairs on Illumina instrument systems, managing and prioritizing service activities within the territory, and maintaining high customer satisfaction through effective communication and technical expertise. The role also involves monitoring and managing service parts inventory, keeping detailed records in customer databases and service logs, providing accurate service reports, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support instrument placements and identify sales opportunities, and maintaining regular contact with existing customers to foster relationships and identify support needs.
