At Trunk Tools, we are automating construction, a massive $13 trillion+ industry. Our founding team, with experience from SpaceX, Stanford, MIT, and Carta, has a proven track record in construction software, serving over 140k users and working on +$2 billion in built-environment projects. Unlike typical tech startups, our team largely comes from construction backgrounds. We've developed the core technology for construction automation and are now deploying workflows and agents, starting with a document Q&A chatbot, to integrate into construction teams' processes. With significant traction among Fortune 500 construction companies, we are expanding our team of 50+ FTE to deploy more agents this year. We are seeking a Director of Sales to manage, grow, and develop our sales team. This role involves driving sales strategy, managing the full sales lifecycle across all business segments, and working closely with the sales team. The ideal candidate possesses outstanding communication, negotiation, leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong rapport with internal and external stakeholders. Prior enterprise SaaS sales experience, C-level relationship management, experience working with large extended teams, and seven-figure deal experience are essential. This role reports to our Vice President of Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Trunk Tools’ Sales team to drive sales, achieve strategic objectives and quotas, and foster a culture of inclusion, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Support the development of the Sales team through internal training and learning and development opportunities.
  • Manage your territory, including planning, forecasting, and execution.
  • Contribute to and drive the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy.
  • Identify, engage, and qualify prospects, monitoring their progress through the sales cycle.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key accounts to generate new business and expand revenue with current customers.
  • Sell to C-suite executives, utilizing solution selling techniques, engaging multiple stakeholders, and negotiating based on P&L considerations.
  • Ensure formal account engagement plans are developed and continually reviewed.
  • Work closely with Operations to develop tools that aid the team in achieving goals.
  • Structure and negotiate business terms and contracts with line-of-business, procurement, senior management, and C-level executives.
  • Identify product improvements or new products by staying current on customer needs, industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
  • Travel: 25% - 50%.

Requirements

  • 7-8+ years of software sales experience, with proven success in identifying and closing seven-figure contracts.
  • 3+ years of management experience in a sales environment, ideally SaaS.
  • Experience in a sales leadership role with a demonstrated ability to increase sales through the development of high-performance teams and effective sales processes.
  • Demonstrated experience executing sales leadership methodologies and ownership of all aspects of territory management.
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise SaaS models, SaaS metrics, and online sales models.
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience selling licenses or subscriptions to large, complex organizations.
  • Experience selling into the construction industry is a requirement.
  • A perfect mix of curiosity, empathy, ambition, resilience, optimism, and a competitive, value-added mindset.
