Requirements

  • Ability to lead the local legal and compliance team
  • Expertise in proactive, risk-based business partnering on local laws and compliance topics, including Intellectual Property, Litigation and Investigations, Compliance, Global Business Partners Legal
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and internal policies, including anti-bribery, healthcare fraud/financial interactions with healthcare professionals and government officials, competition and anti-trust laws, market access, regulatory, promotion and non-promotional activities, disclosure of healthcare spend, privacy laws, labour laws
  • Capability to draft, review, and negotiate various types of agreements, legal and corporate documents, as well as non-contractual documents like local strategic business plans
  • Skills to develop and update contract templates, including self-service templates with monitoring
  • Ability to obtain information on latest trends and developments in pharmaceutical laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in providing legal advice and training to employees
  • Experience creating and delivering training on local legal and compliance topics (e.g., pharmaceutical law, anti-bribery)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as country general counsel lead and head of compliance for Taiwan, reporting to the Executive Director, Legal and Compliance, Intercontinental and Gilead Patient Solutions
  • Lead legal and compliance business partnering and contribute to success of local and regional business
  • Implement local legal and compliance priorities, risk management, and infrastructure to deliver effective programs for Taiwan
  • Provide effective proactive and risk-based business partnering on local laws and compliance, collaborating with expert teams in Asia and globally
  • Support the country affiliate leadership team to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies across functions (Commercial Planning and Operations, Medical, Finance, HR, Regulatory, Public Affairs, Government Affairs)
  • Assist local teams in leading quarterly compliance meetings, compliance communications, and fostering “tone from the top”
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various types of agreements, legal and corporate documents, and non-contractual documents
  • Develop and update contract templates for local use, including self-service options with monitoring
  • Monitor latest trends and developments in pharmaceutical laws and regulations, providing legal advice and training to employees
  • Create and deliver training on local legal and compliance topics (e.g., pharmaceutical law, anti-bribery)
